A double transatlantic whammy this weekend for my client Michelle Paver. On Saturday, The Times (Americans call it “The Times of London†to differentiate it from the NY Times, but its real name is simply The Times) carried a feature in the Books section looking for a successor to the Harry Potter mantle: Michelle was one of six authors short-listed.
And across the pond, the New York Times carried one of the most brilliant reviews I’ve ever read. Book three in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness – Soul Eater – has just been published in the States and the reviewer can’t find enough good things to say – here are some brief extracts:
- “Hugely entertaining seriesâ€
- “Generates tremendous suspenseâ€
- “Paced like summer blockbusters, the novels open with a bang and pick up speed from there…â€
- “The books are page turners, and “Soul Eater†is perhaps the most thrilling…â€
- “Readers will find that Torak and his companions could go a long way toward filling that Potter-size hole in their lives.â€
